Police are appealing for witnesses following the horror crash which took place on Sunday at around 8:30am.

Emergency services from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance raced to the scene of the collision before treating the young boy there.

He was then taken to hospital where he is understood to still be in critical condition.

Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan, from the Met’s Roads and Transport Unit, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with this young boy and his loved ones at this very difficult time.

“A family had their lives turned upside down during a Sunday morning walk and our team are now working around the clock to piece together what happened.”

The officer added: “It’s imperative we gather as much evidence as we can to ensure we can build the full picture of the incident, and are encouraging anyone who can help to come forward and talk to us.”
