Teenage boy, 16, dies after car crashes into tree injuring two others as driver, 18, arrested

A TEENAGE boy has died after the car he was in smashed into a tree, as the cops arrest one man.

The 16-year-old was a passenger in a blue Volkswagen Polo, which was travelling along the A4104 in Worcestershire on Saturday night, September 12.

The vehicle was heading towards Dunstall when it collided with a tree between the carriageway and the slip road to Bourne Road at around 9.20pm.

The teenage boy suffered “significant injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to West Mercia Police.

Two other passengers, also teens aged 16 and 17, suffered minor injuries.

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving in excess of drink and drugs.

He has been interviewed and since bailed as police enquiries continue.

The force has appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the boy who tragically lost his life yesterday.

“They are being supported by specialist officers and will be kept informed throughout the investigation process.

“We are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or the vehicle travelling prior to the incident taking place.
