Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, cast his vote on Saturday during the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections taking place throughout the state.
The governor voted at the Ajari II Polling Unit 006 in Mafa Ward, within the Mafa Local Government Area.
After voting, Zulum shared his thoughts with journalists, expressing his satisfaction with the conduct of the election and the voter turnout in the region.
“I am pleased with the process and the level of participation. From what I observed, the election has been peaceful and orderly,” he stated.
The governor characterized the election as a trial run for future elections, expressing confidence in his party's prospects in upcoming contests.
The local government elections are being held across Borno's 27 local government areas and 312 wards, with participation from six political parties.
Zulum was joined at the polling unit by Baba Ali Modu, the representative for Mafa in the Borno State House of Assembly; Dr. Babagana Mallumbe, the Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor; Mustapha Ali Busuguma, the Permanent Secretary of the Government House; along with other government officials and party supporters.
