Borno: 2023 PDP deputy guber candidate dumps party for ADC

The 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Borno State, Honourable Saleh Ahmed Kida, has resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

His resignation was contained in a letter dated July 4, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Kokani, Kida Ward, Hawul Local Government Area.

“I humbly submit my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect.

“I thank you for the privilege and opportunity granted to me during my time in the party,”; he wrote.

Copies of the letter were also sent to the PDP State Chairman, Deputy Chairman (Southern Borno), and the PDP Chairman in Hawul LGA.

Although Kida did not state his reasons for leaving, political observers believe the defection is part of a broader opposition realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, aimed at challenging the ruling party’s dominance in Borno and beyond.
