The post included a picture of a lifeguard – not the one who entered the water – as terrified beachgoers sheltered behind a buggy.
“I should clarify that the lifeguard in the photo isn’t the one who went into the water; that person was already in the water at that point,” the post explained.
“Not that the lifeguard in the picture, keeping watch, is doing anything less significant.”
The man who was rescued is reportedly a tourist from China named Levi, as reported by The Standard .
He informed local media that he was swimming with friends when he heard gunshots and immediately alerted others in the water.
An Australian lifeguard then arrived on a surfboard as the holidaymaker rapidly lost strength.
