Published on May 06, 2025 at 08:29 AM

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after the remains of an unidentified woman were found near a former cricket club.

Emergency services had rushed to the scene in Burnage, Greater Manchester, at around 3pm yesterday, after a body was reported nearby.

Cops cordoned off the area next to the former Burnage Cricket Club and have now confirmed the discovery of a woman’s body.

Greater Manchester Police said it was continuing to investigate the case as it attempts to identify the woman.

Several officers were spotted doing a sweep of the field, with police saying it was too early to know whether the death was suspicious.

A Home Office post-mortem exam has also been authorised.

In a statement, police said: “We are investigating after the body of a woman was found near Brookthorpe Avenue, Burnage, at around 3pm on Monday 5 May.

“Officers are working to identify the woman and a Home Office post-mortem has been authorised.”;

If you have any information which could assist the police, contact the force by calling 101, quoting log 1867 of 5/5/25.
