A MASSIVE blaze involving 200 tonnes of commercial waste has broken out at an industrial plant, as cops urge the public to stay away.

Fire crews were scrambled to the inferno in Port Talbot, , as thick black smoke was seen pouring into the sky from miles away.

Crews from Port Talbot, Neath, Morriston, Ammanford, Tumble, Carmarthen, Pontarddulais and Glynneath fire stations were all called to the scene.

are battling to bring the flames under control with residents nearby urged to shut their windows and doors due to the heavy smoke.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area as fire crews fight the blaze.

Nearby roads have been closed and drivers are being warned to expect delays to their journeys.

Pictures from the dramatic scene show huge clouds of black smoke rising into the air.

Posting to social media South said: “Avoid the area, we have received reports of a large fire on Dock Road, Port Talbot.

“Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub CGC / MAWW Fire and Rescue is advising all local residents to close all windows and doors.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience.”
