Benue: Crisis rocks ADC in Oju, Obi LG as founding members reject new leadership

Leadership crisis seems to be brewing in African Democratic Congress, ADC in Oju and Obi Local Government of Benue State as founding members reject new leadership.

Local stakeholders in the party alleged an unfair attempt by the new leadership to sideline the founding members of the party in the LGAs amid the ongoing coalition and restructuring efforts.

Dr Jonah Ominyi Ogah, the ADC Chairman for Benue South Senatorial District and the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections, faulted some moves by the coalition, which recently took over the party.

Speaking at an event in Benue State, Ogah said, “now that the coalition is here, we expect that the party should also co-opt the founding members in Oju/Obi and not just move in to take over their structure if they mean well.

“Anything short of this arrangement is party-grabbing, and it will not mean well for the ADC people.”

There are indications that the internal wrangling could severely impact the party’s credibility and grassroots support base if not swiftly addressed.
