As Da Silva lay on the ground seemingly unconscious, some players clashed, while others frantically called for medical staff to help.

Players of the Malaysian club desperately gestured for medical assistance before captain Natxo Insa took matters into his own hands.

He sprinted over to what appeared to be medical staff, angrily kicked out and grabbed the stretcher himself.

He then headed back towards stricken team-mate Jairo.

Majrashi was sent off and footage showed him inconsolable with his head in his hands, and he was later seen in tears at full time.

The Saudi Arabian had also scored an own-goal as Al Ahli went on to win 2-1.

According to reliable reports in the Saudi press, Jairo is in a stable condition in hospital.

A journalist wrote: “The condition of a Johor Club player is stable and will undergo X-rays on the face and head to ensure the player is safe from any serious injury.”
