The former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and 2019 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Obong Nsima has confessed that APC is maturing politically in the state.
Ekere who said his observation followed the peaceful conduct of the party’s congress in Uyo on Tuesday, noting that the exercise showed the party’s growing internal democracy and institutional strength.
Recall that APC’s congresses in previous years in Akwa Ibom have been marred by violence, wranglings and bloodbath.
Ekere, in a statement in Uyo, on Friday, expressed surprise over the seamless and peaceful conduct of the 2026 Congress to the extent that leaders and stakeholders had a consensus to unanimously adopt the State Working Committee of the party, led by Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo without any rancour.

“The absence of rancour and disputes during the congress was a positive signal that the Akwa Ibom APC is on a steady path of growth and reconciliation.”
While congratulating the newly elected SWC, Ekere attributed the peaceful congress to the collaborative efforts between Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio
He also called on all party members, regardless of interests or leanings, to rally behind the party and work collectively toward the shared goal of transforming Akwa Ibom State through the APC platform.
