SURPRISE hit Ann Droid starring Diane Morgan and Sue Johnston looks set to get a second series

Over the first week, including catch-up streams online, it gained four million views; almost half of those were people watching it live on One.

The sitcom is about an android called Linda (Morgan), who is purchased to look after elderly lady Sue (Johnston), who has been widowed for two years.

When her son Michael, played by Paul Ready, moves out he gets his mum a hi-tech robot to help look after her.

The follow-up series is already being developed by Ann Droid’s production company Buffalo Pictures –  which is co-owned by and his producer wife Philippa Braithwaite.

However, the BBC has yet to formally commission it and announce its return.

From her characters Philomena Cunk to Mandy, Diane Morgan has made a lasting impression on British TV.

In 2019, Diane wrote, directed and starred in the short, Mandy.

She played Gemma Nerrick in the British mockumentary Death to 2020.

In April 2022, Morgan starred as Donna in the first episode of the seventh series of Inside No. 9.

Diane made her TV debut as Dawn on ‘s Phoenix Nights.

Sue Johnston is praised for her role in The Royle Family, features as Jess’s Aunt Mary.
