ANDY Burnham will travel around Britain’s seaside towns this summer on a listening tour dubbed “Burnham-on-Sea”.

The Makerfield MP will take part in meet-and-greets, group discussions and official engagements in coastal communities after he becomes PM tomorrow.

Insiders are likening it to Barack Obama’s US tour in 2009, when the new President travelled across the country by train, stopping to speak to “everyday Americans” before his inauguration.

Brits can also expect a flurry of social media content inspired by lefty New York mayor Zohran Mamdani, with selfie-style videos and behind-the-scenes content. Mr Burnham is tipped to visit areas in Essex and Kent where Labour is threatened by Reform UK.

Insiders say he has joked he will be able to top up his tan and eat ice cream — as he will not be getting much of a holiday during Parliament’s recess period.

He will also visit post-industrial towns in the North as he tries to persuade the public he can turn the country around.

Seaside stops are expected to include Margate in Kent, Southend in Essex, Aberdeen in Scotland and Port Talbot in Wales.

But his team are looking at beefing up security on the trip after the alleged murder of high-profile former MP earlier in the month.

The new Labour leader has spent this weekend preparing for Government. He claimed he is still finalising his Cabinet before announcing who gets which job tomorrow.

Mr Miliband, himself a former Labour leader, is tipped to take the role as a consolation prize for not becoming Chancellor. Sources said his allies have been asking what the Foreign Office is like to run.

Hardline Home Secretary is expected to take over from as Chancellor.

But one Labour insider warned it will “all end in tears” and said: “The dynamic between No10 and No11 is so critical to the success of the Government. Those two are going to butt heads. How long Andy stays in office will be determined by his Chancellor.”

Left-wing Labour MPs have also reacted with fury over the proposed appointment. During an interview, backbencher Dawn Butler declined five times to endorse Ms Mahmood.
