The Anambra State Executive Council has approved the insurance for the new Government House, Light House Awka, for a total of N87 million.

Dr. Mefor stated that the approval was granted during the 23rd Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, which took place at Light House, Awka, on November 17, 2025, and was chaired by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
He noted, “The Council approved the amount of N87,168,413.00 (eighty-seven million, one hundred and sixty-eight thousand, four hundred and thirteen naira only) as the annual premium for the provision of an asset insurance policy/coverage for Light House, Awka, through an initial long-term agreement of five (5) years.”
The press release indicated that during the meeting, the council discussed various issues, including plans for a memorable Christmas celebration, the denial of rumors regarding the death of former governor Chief Willie Obiano, and the congratulatory message to the new Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Anyaehie.
Dr. Mefor also disclosed the awarding of additional projects, which include the modification and completion of the abandoned court building, renovations and upgrades of associated structures within the Court of Appeal Complex in Awka, rehabilitation of the failed sections of Court Road and Obunagu Road within the Awka Metropolis, as well as the supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences in Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata LGA, among others.
