Kwande Intermediate Axis Sets Sights on 2027 Governorship in Benue

The Kwande intermediate axis in Benue State has expressed its intention to contest for the governorship seat in 2027.

This announcement was made during a press conference by the Movement for the Actualization of Kwande Gubernatorial Ambition (MAKGA).

The Kwande intermediate axis includes the Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas of the state.

The convener of the group, Leonard Ikyem, stated, “We, the descendants of the dynamic, patriotic, and progressive people of the Kwande intermediate area, which includes Kwande and Ushongo local government areas of Benue State, wish to inform the esteemed people of Benue about our desire to revive the governorship ambition of the Kwande people in 2027.

“As we all know, the democratic process in Nigeria will open a new chapter in 2027, presenting fresh opportunities, and we aim to mobilize our community to step forward and seize this new frontier.

He noted that the reasons the Kwande axis advocated for the highest elective position in the state, which were not realized in 2023, still hold true.

Ikyem emphasized that the established tradition of selfless, committed, and dedicated service to the people of the state was one of the key arguments.

The group assured that if given another opportunity, they would not only maintain that tradition but also surpass the unmatched milestones achieved by the first executive governor of the state, the late Aper Aku.

“We hereby seek the support of the Benue electorate as we embark on this noble democratic quest to sustain and realize our ambition.”
