The Igbo Community Association announced that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Obinna Simon, widely known as MC Tagwaye, has committed to eliminating double taxation in certain areas of Abuja if he is elected as Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the upcoming 2026 elections.
The association’s President-General, Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, shared this information during a conference held in Abuja on Monday.
He stated that MC Tagwaye has also promised to address what he referred to as unnecessary demolitions in AMAC following his election during the polls.
“We have reviewed his manifestos. Among other priorities is his commitment to abolish double taxation in AMAC.
‘Unnecessary demolitions will be managed legally and compassionately. These two issues significantly impact ordinary residents in the FCT. This is important to us not only because we are Igbo but also because we live in the FCT,” he explained.
Ellis-Ezenekwe urged AMAC residents to support Simon’s candidacy on 21st February 2026.
