The Edo State chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, has instructed all 18 local government chairpersons in the state to ensure that their officials wear caps featuring President Bola Tinubu’s insignia during official meetings.
Ekpeson stated that this directive applies to supervisory councillors, senior special assistants (SSAs), and special assistants (SAs). He clarified that the initiative aims to “clearly demonstrate grassroots support for President Tinubu’s administration and political vision in Edo State.”
In a statement issued through his media aide, Agbukor Lucky Apeakhuye, Ekpeson mentioned that the decision was made following Governor Monday Okpehbolo’s recent appeal for political unity throughout the state.
He emphasized that showcasing political symbols at the local level serves to enhance support for President Tinubu in anticipation of the 2027 general election.
“The promised 3.5 million votes for President Tinubu from Edo State must not just be a goal,” Ekpeson remarked. “We need to start generating that momentum from the grassroots now, which includes symbolic actions that reflect our political commitment.”
He encouraged all local government leaders to take this directive seriously, asserting that a united expression of support would convey a powerful political message.
