M&S first launched the iconic cake 30 years ago and its design has been largelyunchanged since 2004.

Posting on , on the chain’s official @ aldispecialbuysuk account, the supermarket gave shoppers a close-up look at the in a joke-style video.

Aldi shared clips of Cuthbert “in the wild”; and wrote: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it returned to the baked goods aisle.”;

Now, Aldi’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake is priced at £6.49.

Just like Colin, Cuthbert, who was placed under a tree and hanging on a branch in the humorous clip, is made with a chocolate sponge cake filled with chocolate buttercream.

It also comes with a white chocolate face.
