This shocking statistic is a damning indictment of the Blueco ownership, who have spent over £1.37 BILLION on new players since taking over in May 2022.

Before dropping the bombshell, Shearer pointed out that Everton covered a total of 111.9km compared to ‘s 105.8km.

He said: “A staggering stat we found is every Premier League game this season, Chelsea have been outrun by the opposition.

“In every single game, home and away, Chelsea have played, the opposition have outrun them. What does that tell you?”

The trio of presenters, including Shearer, and , claimed they “double and triple checked” and found it “really hard to believe”.

Blues fans have expressed concern at Shearer’s discovery, with one writing on X: “We have a young squad that has refused to run.

“Just look at how we behave in transition and when we are on ball, just lazy with no intent.”

Another said: “I love how we’re getting clips of our defenders being so lazy, so switched off and not a****.

“All season long, both managers have played these s*** heads and it costs them.”

This perhaps highlights a fundamental problem in ‘s recruitment strategy which prioritises signing high-potential, unknown teenagers over experienced and proven players.

Chelsea have the lowest average squad age in the league at 23.4 years, more than four years fewer than (27.7 years) who have the oldest squad.

Chapman said: “There’s a five-year average difference (starting 11) between Everton (29y, 25d) and Chelsea (24y 208d).

“You look at Chelsea and think they could do with a couple of 30-year-olds, don’t you?”

Rooney agreed, adding: “They’ve got a lot of young players and they are very inexperienced. The team does change quite a bit as well.

“I don’t think they’re getting the togetherness on the pitch so the more you change the young players, they don’t get a run of games and they don’t compete.”

The BlueCo ownership, who own both Chelsea and Strasbourg and are led by Clearlake Capital’s Behdad Eghbali, have come under increasing scrutiny.

A Chelsea protest group will hold their first joint demonstration with Strasbourg supporters before the Blues’ home league fixture against on April 18.

But it remains to be seen if BlueCo, who have been known to leverage media contacts to publish one-sided puff pieces, will hold themselves accountable or listen to the fans.

With seven league games remaining, Chelsea are sixth and at serious risk of missing out on qualification for the third time in four seasons.

Without Champions League revenue, Chelsea could be plunged into further financial trouble.

They have already been made to agents worth £47.5m between 2011 and 2018 under former owner .
