The heated brawl unfolded shortly after passengers boarded a three-hour economy flight from southwest Russia to Siberia.
The dispute kicked off when a man accused a woman of taking up too much space with her bags in the overhead locker.
He flung her suitcase out of the storage space, sparking a fiery row over luggage placement.
“Witnesses said a man and a woman argued over space in the overhead baggage compartment, after which the dispute escalated into a fight”, said a Telegram report of the altercation.
“Another woman then stepped in on the man’s side and punched his opponent in the jaw.”
In the video, one man is seen holding back the fist-fighting woman before shoving away another female passenger as she tried to intervene in the brawl.
In the background, one female voice is heard saying: “They’re fighting, oh my God!”
“Please stop!” pleaded another woman.
Ground crew and law enforcement were forced to intervene and stop the outrageous spectacle.
The Telegram report added that: “All those involved in the fight were removed from the flight for inappropriate behaviour”.
Accounts differ on exactly how many passengers were expelled from the flight travelling from Kazan in southwestern Russia to Novosibirsk in Siberia.
It is far from the first time that passengers have come to blows on flights.
