“I thought it would be a one-time mission, but we are driving our 100th vehicle today.

“That’s what the Blitz spirit taught us. We won’t stop.

“You can see the impact it is having on the frontline.”

Founder Simon Brake, 62, set up the non-profit organisation after launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The retired IT worker met a Ukrainian expat appealing for people to drive vehicles to and abandoned his retirement plans to help.

Mighty Convoy has since delivered 102 vehicles including 70 ambulances, 28 pick-up trucks four ex-Iceland delivery vans.

He said: “We know our vehicles save lives. The Ukrainians are telling us that.

“The volunteers driving the vehicles are tremendously brave.

“We’ve had ex-military guys with a gleam in their eyes to people who are quite nervous.”

He added: “If the war does drag on, we will still be here. We’re committed to support Ukraine as long as they need us.

“Us Brits have been great at that.”

Mighty Convoy has so far provided Ukraine with about 60 tonnes of aid including medical supplies, food and clothes.
