The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed support for a legal framework that would require the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit election results electronically in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Monday said the party believes electronic result transmission is key to ensuring transparency and protecting the integrity of voters’ choices.

“If a legal framework that compels INEC to electronically transmit results is what will strengthen transparency in our elections, then the ADC will fully support it,” Abdullahi stated.

He added that credible elections are the foundation of democracy, stressing that the public must be able to trust that votes count.

“Anything that guarantees that votes genuinely count is not just important but absolutely essential for the survival of democracy in Nigeria,” he said.
