THIS 90s child star looks very different 28 years after she shot to fame in a much-loved film.

The actress, now 38, regularly keeps fans updated with her life in and has swapped being in front of the screen to working behind the camera as a filmmaker, director, writer, and producer.

The star made her name after making guest appearances on Ally McBeal in the early nineties, but it wasn’t until 1997 that she really landed her first starring role.

She appeared as the younger version of ‘s character in the opening scenes of the movie.

In the film, her character witnesses the tragic death of her mother by a poacher and promises to protect Joe, an unusually large infant gorilla.

Charlize then takes over the role for the rest of the film as an adult version of the character.

Mika went on to star in a string of other films, including a lead role in the 2001 drama Hearts in Atlantis, opposite Anthony Hopkins.

Over the years, Mika has kept her fans updated with snaps of her personal and work life on her social media.

She shared a stunning bikini snap in 2024 while holidaying with friends.

Other snaps showed her posing for selfies, on glamourous red carpets and sharing a glimpse from behind-the-scenes of being a filmmaker.

Mika also had prominent supporting roles in war drama The Patriot in 2000 and thriller Along Came a Spider the following year.

She went on to star in a number of teen films including Blue Crush in 2002 and comedy Sleepover in 2004.

Mika was also a recurring guest star on Dawson’s Creek in 2002 to 2003 and starred in Augusta Gone in 2006.

The star, who is married but prefers to keep her partner’s identity private, decided to venture into filmmaking.

She directed the 2017 short film L.A. Player and 2021’s Hollywood. Con, which she also starred in, making it her last acting appearance.

She also has her own company Penni Productions that produces movies, TV shows and music videos.
