The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has said that its endorsement of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections is centered on ideological lines.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Opara Ejimofor, stated this on Monday, in an interview on Arise Television.

“Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo’s statement was premised on two factors. Firstly, he has a long-standing relationship with President Tinubu, having been friends for over two decades.

“Secondly, APGA has an unwritten convention to support the party at the center, a tradition that predates the Charles Soludo administration.

“So if you say for political expediency maybe that was what that convention had in mind when they elected or maybe shaped the party in such a way that it had to align with the party at the centre.

“To make it a little robust, there is a debate ongoing about the politics of Nigeria and why it should be enshrined in some kind of political ideology so as to end this era of person who come up to see political parties as mere special proposed vehicles for actualization of their political selfish ambition,” he said.
