"SDP Set to Provide Nigerians with a Trustworthy Alternative by 2027, Says Adebayo"

The leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its presidential candidate for 2023, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has expressed his confidence that the party is ready to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative capable of tackling the nation’s challenges.

In discussing the party’s strategies for the upcoming 2027 general elections, Adebayo emphasized that the SDP is distinct from both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as a movement founded on integrity and clear principles.

“It is uncommon to find a genuine SDP member who is interested in the APC or PDP, as their values are completely contrary to what the SDP represents,” he stated.

Adebayo revealed that the party is implementing leadership reforms to ensure accountability and discipline among its members.

“During my presidential campaign, certain individuals within the party worked against us. There were state chairpersons who provided our agent cards to another party,” he disclosed.

“For example, in Kwara, we found that while we received over 122,000 votes, only 22,000 were officially recorded for us. We are changing such leadership and bringing in new individuals,” he continued.
He noted that the SDP is dedicated to establishing a structure based on patriotism and selflessness.

“Building a political party comprised of selfless and patriotic individuals, who engage in politics solely for the purpose of creating a better country, takes time. That’s what we are striving for in the SDP,” he emphasized.

Adebayo remarked that early nationalists, such as Herbert Macaulay, Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Ahmadu Bello, inherited a divided system, highlighting that the SDP aims to rectify those foundational issues through value-driven politics and people-oriented leadership.
