The Kano State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has characterized the defection of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and his Bayelsa counterpart, Douye Diri, as a positive development for the party.
The State Chairman of the party, Yusif Kibiya, expressed this sentiment while commenting on the defections, stating that the PDP is pleased with the departure of the two governors.
He mentioned that the defections of these governors were not surprising, asserting that their actions hold no electoral significance and will not influence election outcomes.
Kibiya claimed that the Federal Government is attempting to undermine the PDP and transform the nation into a one-party system.
“This isn’t surprising. We were aware they would leave. Anyone in the PDP understands this. We were not shocked,” he stated.
“We are pleased they have departed. It is challenging to engage with individuals who wield double-edged swords. These individuals are compromised,” he added.
“They believe they are receiving some form of compensation from the central government, while others have been threatened. This is quite evident. Therefore, this is nothing new for the PDP. We are all aware,” he concluded.
