The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged Northerners to seize the ongoing voter card registration as a chance to enroll ahead of the 2027 general election.

During the inauguration of the 27 local government chapters of the Forum in Dutse, the State Chairman, Aminu Dalhatu, stated that the region's educational setbacks have set it back several years.

The Forum expressed concern over the apathy towards voter card registration in the region, highlighting the lack of engagement from Northerners in the ongoing voter registration exercise nationwide in preparation for the 2027 elections.

He encouraged Northerners to actively participate to safeguard the collective interests of the region's populace.

The Forum voiced its dissatisfaction with the progress of the registration exercise in the state and called for increased awareness efforts to engage the public regarding the importance of participating in the exercise.

“I believe that over the past four years, many individuals have become eligible to vote for various reasons; some have reached the minimum voting age, while others have moved to different parts of the country.”

“However, it is evident that the turnout for this exercise in Jigawa is far from satisfactory. We emphasize the urgent need to enhance public awareness efforts so that we, as a body, can support government initiatives in this regard,” he stated.
