Justice Umeadi Bows Out of Politics: 2023 APGA Presidential Candidate Steps Down

The 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Justice Peter Umeadi, has officially left the party and withdrawn from all forms of partisan politics in Nigeria.

Umeadi, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of APGA Ward 1, Nri, in the Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr. Onyekwelu Jideobi, expressed his gratitude to APGA for the opportunity to represent the party in the 2023 presidential election.

“I respectfully submit my resignation from my membership in Nri Ward 1 of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). At the same time, I am withdrawing from all forms of partisan politics in Nigeria,” the letter stated in part.

According to DAILY POST, Umeadi was the first jurist and legal academic to be nominated as a presidential candidate by a major political party in Nigeria.

The justice based his campaign on the principles of the rule of law, separation of powers, and due process, envisioning social progress and equal opportunities for all Nigerians.

Umeadi joined APGA on March 20, 2019, at Nri Ward 1, and secured the party’s presidential nomination on June 1, 2022.
