Muhammad Lawal Kurya, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kaura Namoda South in the recent Zamfara State House of Assembly election, has switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kurya made this announcement on Saturday during a political event organized by Yazeed Shehu Danfulani Projects at the Taula Arena in Gusau.
This decision follows the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of APC’s Kamilu Sa’idu as the winner of the supplementary election held in August for the Kaura Namoda South constituency.
In announcing his departure from the PDP, Kurya criticized Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration for its inability to effectively address the rising insecurity in the state, which he claimed has intensified under the current leadership.
He emphasized that his choice to join the APC was motivated by a desire to support the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, in efforts to restore peace and stability in Zamfara.
Kurya called on his supporters to unite behind the APC, expressing his belief that the party is in a stronger position to tackle the state’s security and developmental issues.
