The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed Maharazu Salisu Faru, the representative for Maradun 2 Constituency in the State House of Assembly, following his switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection ceremony took place at the APC Secretariat in Gusau and was overseen by the State Party Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani.
Faru was joined by five former PDP ward chairmen—Ahmad Lawal (Sarkin Samari) from Gidan Goga Ward, Sanusi Ahmad Liman from Tsibiri Ward, Lawal Mohammed from Kaya Ward, Shingi Dan-Abu from Janbako Ward—as well as the former official PDP member for Maradun, Salisu Dodo Faru, along with hundreds of supporters.
During the event, Faru stated that he left the PDP due to Governor Dauda Lawal’s “failure to fulfill campaign promises” and his “indifference” towards the welfare of the populace.
“Insecurity was the primary reason people voted for him, yet he has shown no concern for the hardships faced by his constituents,” Faru remarked.
He accused the governor of marginalizing the Maradun 2 Constituency and neglecting devoted party members.
“There is no equity in Dauda’s administration. Only favored PDP members and those within his inner circle are benefiting from the dividends of democracy,” he added.
Faru characterized the PDP as “a party in turmoil at all levels,” noting that numerous members and governors are already transitioning to the APC.
He also emphasized that his defection was a show of solidarity with the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and former Governor Abdulaziz Yari, whom he commended for promoting unity within the APC.
