Published on June 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM

A judge at the Higher Sharia Court in Birnin Tudu, Gummi LGA of Zamfara state, Alkali Usman, has escaped from captivity after being abducted by unknown gunmen.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the judge, who was declared missing on June 26, returned home around 10am on June 27.

The publication explained that Usman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and was later discharged.

Security operatives were said to have debriefed the judge shortly after his return before reuniting him with his family.

When contacted, Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, said he could not disclose the circumstances surrounding the judge’s escape.

“He has been reunited with his family. That is all I can tell you,”; he said.
