Several leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have filed a lawsuit at the State High Court in Gusau, contesting their suspension from the party.

The APC leaders were suspended for participating in the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front’s stakeholders meeting on November 11, 2025, in Gusau, the state capital.

The lawsuit was initiated by Babangida Aliyu Shinkafi, the APC chairman of Shinkafi South Ward; Kabiru Ibrahim, the APC Welfare Secretary of Shinkafi Local Government; and Ibrahim DD Kurya, a representative of People With Disabilities (PWD) in Shinkafi Local Government against the APC.

Other plaintiffs include Alhaji Tukur Danfulani Maikatako Gusau, the APC Chairman of Zamfara State, and Alhaji Ibrahim Bama Shinkafi, the APC Chairman of Shinkafi Local Government.

The suspended party leaders are seeking a court declaration affirming their status as legitimate members of the APC.

Additionally, they are requesting a declaration stating that any alleged suspension, expulsion, intimidation, harassment, or termination of their membership from the APC by the defendants or any other individual is unconstitutional, illegal, unlawful, null, and void.

“They seek an order of perpetual injunction prohibiting the defendants, their agents, employees, assigns, or any other individuals from taking further actions to suspend, expel, intimidate, harass, terminate their membership, or discriminate against them.

“They request a court order to maintain the status quo and suspend all actions related to their suspension, expulsion, intimidation, harassment, termination of membership, or discrimination against them, pending the resolution of the substantive suit before the court.”

The plaintiffs assert that they were elected during the APC congress in 2022 and that their tenures are still valid, emphasizing their affiliation with the political faction of Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the leader of the Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front.

They contend that Alhaji Ibrahim Bama Shinkafi, the APC Chairman of Shinkafi Local Government, suspended them verbally without just cause or valid grounds for alleged violations of the party constitution and failed to provide them with an opportunity to defend themselves.

Despite their attempts to halt their suspension, they found no resolution and were compelled to seek legal recourse.

The lawsuit was filed by their attorney, Bello Idris Galadi and Associates, on November 14, 2025.

According to DAILY POST, the Zamfara State APC has been facing turmoil following its defeats to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 and 2023 gubernatorial elections, which have been attributed to the imposition of candidates, suspensions, expulsions, and the marginalization of party leaders and members within the state.
