The federal government has introduced a youth-focused initiative to celebrate this year's African and National Youth Day and the Festival 2025.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, announced this in a recent statement leading up to the event, scheduled to take place from November 27th to 28th, 2025.

He emphasized that the future of Nigeria and Africa rests in the hands of the younger generation.

According to him, the Nigerian government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is dedicated to empowering youth through investments in education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, the creative industries, and civic engagement.

Olawande also encouraged leaders from the private sector, development agencies, and civil society to enhance their support for initiatives led by youth.

“This serves as a timely reminder that the future of Africa is in the hands of our youth, a generation that is increasingly connected, informed, and capable than ever before.

“As we find ourselves at the intersection of economic transformation, technological progress, and cultural revival, our youth are not merely participants in change; they are the actual catalysts.

“This event will serve as a platform for dialogue, a showcase of talent, a gathering of minds, and a catalyst for collaboration. In the coming days, young leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, and changemakers will participate in workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions, and performances, all designed to promote inclusion, innovation, and sustainable development.

“As a government, we reaffirm our dedication to youth empowerment through investments in education, digital skills, entrepreneurship, the creative industries, and civic engagement. We are collaborating closely with regional partners and international stakeholders to ensure that our youth have access to the resources, mentorship, and opportunities necessary for their success.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to urge leaders from the private sector, development agencies, and civil society to enhance their support for youth-led initiatives. The time has come for a truly Pan-African youth agenda that transcends borders and harnesses our shared aspirations.

“To Nigerian youths and youth leaders from across Africa who will attend this event, I look forward to welcoming you all in Abuja. Your voices are important.

“Your ideas matter. Your dreams are valid. The Nigerian and African vision of prosperity, peace, and unity cannot be achieved without you,” he stated.
