The Athletic say that Ivorian Diomande, who is starring at the World Cup currently, is desperate to play for Luis Enrique.
He wants to win the Ballon d’Or and compete for top trophies, a vision sold by PSG supremo Luis Campos.
But any deal could cost around £100million – the price Liverpool were willing to spend on their priority target.
Leipzig are keen to get even more than that for the pacey forward but also want to tie him down to a new contract.
He is currently committed to the German club until 2030.
Diomande only joined Leipzig 12 months ago from Spanish outfit Leganes.
He caught the attention with a dazzling first year in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 times and assisting nine.
Speedster Diomande will be in action with his country in the last-32 against Norway on Tuesday.
They will be playing in Texas, where rising star Diomande will hope to progress in the tournament.
Leipzig have a history of big sales including Manchester United forward Benjamin Sesko, who went for over £70million last summer.
Neighbours Manchester City went big for Josko Gvardiol in 2023 and paid out more than £80million.
