THE world’s new highest bridge was put through extreme strength trials ahead of its grand opening.
Dozens of trucks were roped in to put the colossal structure through stress tests to ensure it was ready for traffic.

Found in southern China’s mountainous Guizhou region, the Huajiang Canyon Bridge stands a vast nine times higher than the Golden Gate Bridge.
Anyone who’s will want to steel themselves, as the full scale of its height is jaw-dropping.
It stands 2,000 ft high above the ground, meaning you could fit not one, but two Eiffel Towers underneath it.
The bridge will soon be open for traffic as engineers put their finishing touches on it.
But ahead of this landmark moment, a fleet of 96 trucks weighing a total of 3,360 tons drove over the of the bridge.
This testing, to prove its , lasted a total of five days.
As well as its staggering height, the bridge was built with incredible speed.
Starting construction in 2022, this mammoth project has taken just three and a half years to complete.
Looming at vast heights over the Beipan River, the Huajiang Canyon Bridge is almost as tall as China’s biggest building – the Shanghai Tower.
The bridge is set to drastically cut journey times in the region, helping residents avoid arduous treks through Guizhou’s mountainous routes.
It will slash the currently hours long trek to just two minutes.
Chen Jianlei, deputy director of Guizhou Transport Department told China Daily: “The completion of the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge will strengthen economic ties between [neighbouring cities] Guiyang, Anshun and Qianxinan, fostering regional economic integration.”
It is not the only vast structure in the works around the world at the moment.
Construction has restarted on the , which was left half-built seven years ago.
Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower will be three times taller than the Shard once its complete.
It is the long awaited successor to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa as the world’s next tallest building.
The tower will stand at a staggering 3,280ft high when it is done.
