The Postmaster General of the Nigerian Postal Service, Tola Odeyemi, announced that the agency has provided a 15 percent logistics discount to over 20,000 Nigerian businesses registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

Odeyemi shared this information on Thursday during her address to commemorate this year’s World Post Day, which is themed, ‘Post for People: Local Service, Global Reach’.

She noted that this year’s World Post Day theme aligns with the mission of the Federal Government agency, which aims to connect Nigerians.

She reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to transforming the country’s logistics, digital economy, and service delivery systems in ways that positively impact the daily lives of Nigerians.

Odeyemi explained that NIPOST is collaborating with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, as well as the National Population Commission, to implement the National Addressing System featuring a new digital postcode. This technology will serve as the foundation for the addressing system.

To empower local businesses, she stated, “NIPOST has introduced a 15% logistics discount for all MSMEs registered with SMEDAN. Through this partnership with SMEDAN, over 20,000 MSMEs will benefit, reducing their operational costs and enabling them to broaden their market reach.”

“In addition, to further assist entrepreneurs, NIPOST has launched its e-commerce platform (Digital Market Places) as part of its renewed commitment to fostering Nigeria’s rapidly growing digital economy.

“This platform facilitates sales both locally and internationally. Integrated with logistics and secure payment options, it offers Nigerian SMEs seamless online shipping, order management, and last-mile delivery solutions, allowing small businesses, digital merchants, and consumers across Nigeria to transact and fulfill e-commerce orders more efficiently,” she concluded.
