Former Chelsea forward Joe Cole has told England coach Gareth Southgate to restore midfielder Mason Mount to the England squad for their knockout clash against Senegal.
Joe Cole feels the Chelsea midfielder should replace Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson in Gareth Southgate’s side.
After featuring in England’s first and second group-stage games, Mount was dropped for the game against Wales with Henderson anchoring the midfield in the 3-0 win.
Also starting in Southgate’s team were Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Man City’s Phil Foden and Kyle Walker.
Cole says Southgate can retain Rashford, Walker and Foden in the starting XI but should drop Henderson.
“In midfield, I would bring Mason Mount back into the side for Senegal in place of Jordan Henderson,” he told The Telegraph
“In attack, I would stay with Phil Foden on the right side coming in on his left foot. His connection with Walker is strong.
“On the left side, I would stick with Marcus Rashford.
“Alongside Kane and Foden, Rashford gives the front three that pace.”
