Sussex Police confirmed that they were alerted by concerned staff at The Market Inn pub on Market Street.

PC Jacob Miller stated: “We are appealing for witnesses to the incident that night, or any similar incidents, to contact police at 101, quoting serial number 1469 of 9/1.”
A statement from Sussex Police read: “Police are seeking witnesses after receiving a report that a woman was sexually assaulted at The Market Inn public house in Market Street, Brighton, on Friday evening.
“Staff contacted the police following the report, and a 41-year-old local man has been arrested for sexual assault and released on bail for further inquiries.”
This incident follows closely on the heels of another reported sexual assault involving a woman who was allegedly attacked after leaving a restaurant.
Between five and seven men approached the 25-year-old victim, making comments in Captain Cook Square, .
The group then surrounded her, and one of them reportedly sexually assaulted her on December 13.
The suspects, believed to be of Asian descent and aged between 17 and 23 years, began making comments to the woman between 7:30 PM and 8 PM.
Cleveland are seeking any witnesses to come forward and have released CCTV footage of a male they wish to speak to.
