AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at a bus station in the early hours.

Cops have released CCTV in the urgent hunt for a man after the horror reportedly unfolded in Wigan, Greater Manchester, last Sunday.

The victim is said to have been targeted at the town centre bus station at around 4.15am.

Police patrols have since been stepped up at the station and across the town, Greater Manchester Police said.

The force has since released an urgent appeal for information following the attack, which is believed to be “isolated”.

CCTV footage of a man cops wish to speak to in connection with the alleged assault has since been shared across social media.

Inspector Lisa Morris said: “We have launched an investigation into this incident and are making a number of enquiries at pace to locate the person responsible.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or may recognise this individual as we believe he may be able to help with our investigation.

“Anyone with information, or anyone who knows the man pictured are asked to contact the Wigan Neighbourhood Team on 0161 856 7160 quoting log 505 of 26.07.26.

“Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident, but in order to reassure the public and those visiting or living in the town centre, patrols have been increased in the area.”
