In a statement on X, Wolves Races announced: “Despite our efforts to prepare the track after the overnight snowfall, unfortunately, the conditions have not improved quickly enough for racing this evening.

“As a result, we have made the decision to cancel tonight’s event. Ticket holders will be contacted within 24 hours.”

Upcoming headline races at Warwick and Kempton on Saturday also remain uncertain, as both tracks are still affected.

In 1993, this iconic venue made history by becoming the first UK track to host evening horse racing under floodlights.

Many racing enthusiasts have expressed their disappointment regarding the cancellation.

One user commented on X: “Many nights out ruined. Wolverhampton had grand plans for this fixture. tooooooo”

Another remarked: “That’s quite unfortunate considering all the planning you’ve put in. I was looking forward to attending and witnessing the excitement through my old eyes. Tough luck, everyone.”
