WILLIAM O’CONNOR booked his place in the second round of the Swiss Darts Trophy – but only after stunning the crowd by KILLING a bug.
The Irish star, 40, surged to a comfortable 6-1 win over Finland’s Jani Haavisto.


But O’Connor, who before switching sports, had a shock exchange with an uninvited guest in the early stages of the showdown.
PDC chiefs claimed “the biggest bug we’ve ever seen on a dartboard” threatened to wreak havoc as the Magpie looked to bag the first leg.
And footage captured ruthlessly STAMPING on the insect before celebrating in front of the crowd.
The world No33 then notched the double four he needed – at the second attempt – to take the lead in his clash with Haavisto, 39.
O’Connor appeared to tread on the bug again when he went to retrieve his darts – leaving commentator shocked.
The popular broadcaster said: “Oh no, he’s gone back in. There was some sort of insect.
“Willie O’Connor has mortally wounded it, hit a winning double and then finished it off in the most merciless fashion possible.”
When replays then showed the size of the bug, added: “That’s a beast, what’s that? Burn its body.”

O’Connor will be looking to cause an upset in the .
The win over Haavisto means the one-time UK Open semi-finalist is in line to lock horns with world No14 Ross Smith.
And O’Connor has already after staving off defeat.
The winner of the competition is set to get their hands on £35,000, with the final being held on Sunday.
