A PILOT in his 70s has died in a horror crash after the light aircraft he was flying plunged into a field.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday.
The tragedy happened in Worplesdon, near Guildford in Surrey, prompting a major emergency response.
Firefighters and ambulance crews were among those scrambled to the scene.
Surrey Police has confirmed the man in his 70s, who was piloting the aircraft, died at the scene.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
