The Founder of TAF Africa, Jake Epelle, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to concentrate on his ministerial responsibilities and refrain from interfering in the affairs of Rivers State.
Epelle made this statement on Tuesday during an interview on The Morning Brief, a program on Channels Television that was followed by DAILY POST.
He was addressing the current political unrest in Rivers, emphasizing that Wike does not hold the title of godfather in the state's political landscape.
“There is no such thing as godfatherism in a democracy. Godfatherism is a concept introduced by Nigerians and is part of African political tradition. It simply will not succeed. Wike is not the godfather of politics in Rivers State. He should dedicate his energy to his ministerial role and allow Rivers State and its citizens to govern themselves.”
“You cannot dominate the people of Rivers and expect that everything you dictate must occur, while disregarding what you do not mention. That will not be tolerated.”
“A movement of peaceful, determined, and resilient individuals will arise, ready to speak truth to power.”
“He should remain as the FCT minister, fulfill his duties in Abuja, and let Rivers State and its citizens be.”
