Published on May 29, 2025 at 02:30 PM

Governor Bassey Otu’s aides have given reasons why their principal is not interested in embarking on grandiose projects compared with his immediate past predecessor.

Andrea Ekeng Inyang, Chairman, Forum of Special Assistants, in a statement said this as the governor went round to commission some of the abandoned or uncompleted projects he inherited from his predecessors.

He addressed crowds of special assistants and other guests at a Stewardship Dinner in Gov Otu’s honour, on his second year anniversary in government.

Andrea said Otu is not initiating project for the sake of glamour, instead, he is completing critical projects from past administrations to eliminate waste.

He listed that Otu has refurbished more than 40 projects, more than half are those he inherited.

The aides said the state was in a dilapidated state when Otu took over but that in two years he has transformed it.

He particularly outlined that Security has been strengthened with the establishment of Operation Okwok, which is community-based, adding that it has restored trust and calm to the streets.
