WIDOW’S Bay won an array of gongs at the 2026 Emmy Awards, with Welsh star Matthew Rhys in the spotlight for much of the night.

Rhys, 51, made history by becoming the first actor to win two leading acting gongs in different categories in one night.

Widow’s Bay was released in 2025 and follows the journey of a New England mayor as he leads the superstitious residents on a cursed island.

In the UK, all ten episodes of the show are available to watch exclusively on Apple TV.

After collecting his gongs, Rhys poked fun at Widow’s Bay creator, Katie Dippold.

Gesturing to the gong, he said: “This is purely because of the depraved and twisted mind of Katie Dippold, and her genius really does live in the recesses of her disturbed brain!”

The show snapped up a whopping 14 Emmys in total, making it one of the most-talked about shows of the entire ceremony.

British star Kate O’Flynn, 40, took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for her role of Patricia in the smash hit series.

Accepting the award, the actress, who hails from Manchester, said: “Thank you for trusting this Lancashire lass to play a sassy broad like Patricia.

“This is the role of a lifetime,” she continued before thanking “my friends and family back home, mum and dad, and the loves of my life, my darling husband and our darling daughter, another sassy broad in the making.”
