What to look for when choosing a Tablet for Reading?

Choosing the best tablet can be difficult, whether buying one for your children’s online classes, watching videos, or browsing the web. The processor must be quick, the screen size must be appropriate, and the battery life must be at least one day. Even after considering these factors, selecting the best tablets may still be tricky. If you’re looking for a new tablet this year, we’ll help you choose the one that best fits your needs and budget out of the many options available.

Screen And Audio:

As the most used part of the tablet, the screen’s size and quality are the most important factors to consider when purchasing one. It would help if you were looking at a tablet with a 10-inch screen and Full HD resolution. While 7-inch or 8-inch tablets may be small and light, they feel uncomfortable browsing the internet, especially when taking online courses.

If you enjoy watching movies, select a tablet with a screen that is 10 inches or larger and has a maximum brightness of 400 nits or higher. A tablet with an OLED screen is preferable because it offers deep blacks, a high contrast ratio, and a wide viewing angle. Videos (and even images) look incredibly immersive on OLED screens. Additionally, stereo speakers deliver high-quality audio.

Screen and audio specifications for the ideal tablet to look for:

Screen Size: 10-inch or larger display screens

Screen Resolution: Full HD or higher resolution for the screen

Screen Type: OLED is a type of display (if it fits in the budget)

Screen Type: 400 nits or more of brightness on the screen

Loudspeaker: Stereo speakers, or loudspeakers

Processor:

To keep everything running smoothly, a quick processor is necessary. Look for tablets with at least a 6-core CPU and a potent GPU if you desire faster app launches and smoother gameplay. In addition, 64GB of storage and a minimum of 4GB of RAM are required. The Apple M1 is the best processor you can find on an iPad in 2021. Additionally, the Apple A12Z Bionic is relatively quick. The Snapdragon 888 is the top tablet processor available in the Android market. Although the Snapdragon 888+ was also announced, no tablets have yet to use it.

CPU: Apple A10 Fusion or higher or a better MediaTek Helio G90, Snapdragon 660 or more increased from Qualcomm

RAM: 4GB or more RAM (3GB in the case of iPads)

Storage: 64GB of storage space or more (128GB or more if you store a lot of music and videos for offline playback)

Cameras:

Cameras are less critical on tablets than they are on smartphones. The camera must, however, have at least 8 or 12 megapixels, autofocus, an F2.0 aperture, and 4K 30 frames per second (1080p video recording is okay, too, if you are looking for an affordable tablet). Additionally, 5MP front-facing cameras on tablets allow for recording Full HD video. This ensures that your video is more visible during video calls and conferences to those on the other end of the call.

Rear-Facing Camera: 8MP/12MP rear camera with 1080p or 4K video recording, autofocus, and 5MP front

Front-Facing Camera:  5MP front camera with 1080p video recording.

Software:

Make sure the tablet you purchase has the most current operating system pre-installed, whether you are purchasing an iPad or an Android tablet. At the very least, it should include a guarantee of an update to the most recent Android or iOS version. For example, in 2020, the most recent versions of Android and iPadOS were 11 and 14, respectively.

A more developed and user-friendly tablet operating system is iPadOS. Compared to Android, it has superior tablet apps and games. On the other hand, Android tablets have benefits, such as more straightforward access to file systems and accessories. However, Apple has made significant progress in opening the operating system with iPadOS 14.

If an iPad is within your price range, you should pick it over other Android tablets because of the sheer number of apps that function better on iPadOS and have better layouts to maximize the large screen.

Connectivity:

The screen of a tablet is just as crucial as its connectivity. A new tablet in 2020 should have dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (also referred to as Wi-Fi 5), Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port. Why are these connectivity options so important, then?

Wi-Fi 5: With Wi-Fi 5, you can be sure you have enough capacity to finish your tasks without any issues, whether you’re making a video call or streaming videos. Wi-Fi 5 is required for streaming 4K videos on a tablet.

Bluetooth 5.0: If you want to use wireless earphones to listen to audio from your tablet, Bluetooth 5.0 may be required. With simultaneous audio/data transfer to both channels, this version of Bluetooth fully supports genuinely wireless earphones and puts an end to out-of-phase audio.

You wouldn’t require cellular connectivity if you rarely go outside. You don’t have to go through what you did to learn this lesson. You can use the Wi-Fi hotspot on your smartphone to connect the tablet to the internet just as quickly, even if you occasionally take your tablet outside and feel the need for cellular connectivity. Therefore, unless you are sure you will use cellular (4G or 5G) connectivity, don’t spend the extra money to purchase a tablet.

For iPads, the Lightning Port may currently be your only option in entry-level iPad models. But we anticipate that Apple will upgrade them to USB Type-C ports by the end of the year. So, in addition to making it simpler to use the tablet’s existing cables and accessories, a USB Type-C port is helpful if you need to borrow a charger from friends or someone at the airport.

Battery:

A tablet should have enough battery life for an entire day of varied use. Check out the reviews for each of the tablets you’ve chosen. While tablets with a 10-inch screen should have a minimum of a 7,000mAh battery, larger screen tablets with an 11-inch or 12-inch screen should have batteries close to 10,000mAh to last all day. While not all decisions can be made based solely on battery capacities, and you frequently need to look up real-world battery life figures through reviews and tests, those capacities should still provide you with enough information to help narrow your choices of devices.

Accessories and Extras:

Different tablets with a productivity focus include extra features like style, keyboard docks, trackpads, quad-speaker setups, and speaker docks. In addition, if you’re an artist who likes to draw and paint and wants to use one for your work, look for tablets that support a capacitive stylus and tilt drawing support. Finally, check the screen’s latency when using the stylus in this situation; it should be less than 50ms. High-end tablets with latency as low as 9ms include the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and Galaxy Tab S7+.

If you type a lot for a living, look into tablets that include keyboard docks or cases. Also, check out tablets with genuine or excellent third-party keyboard docks and cases.

If you plan to use your tablet primarily for media consumption, look for tablets with good loudspeakers (possibly a quad-speaker setup), A Full HD or 4K OLED or LCD screen with Widevine L1 certification and an HDR10, HDR10+, or Dolby Vision-capable OLED or LCD is required.

Quality Tablet Repairs and After-Service Sales:

Instead of focusing on the design, features, and performance when choosing a tablet, you should think about the manufacturer’s quality and after-sales service network. If not, you might have difficulty finding a tablet repair service. You should consider a brand with dedicated service centers if something goes wrong with your tablet. There should be at least one of these centers in your city to make it easier to get your tablet fixed (ideally close to your location).

Extended Warranty

Consider extending the warranty on your new tablet by selecting an extended warranty option or purchasing a screen protection plan. Choosing one of these extended protection plans will give you peace of mind and prevent you from incurring unnecessary costs if something goes wrong or you unintentionally drop your tablet while using it. If you are concerned about spilling liquid on your electronics, you should consider purchasing our website’s spills and drops protection plan for your tablet.
