SunSport can reveal how Chelsea can qualify for the Europa League on the final day of the season.

What do Chelsea need to qualify for Europa League on final day?

With Man City beating the Blues in the FA Cup final, the final Europa League spot will go to the league standings.

However, if Aston Villa were to finish fifth, then the the teams in seventh and eighth would qualify, rather than sixth and seventh.

Chelsea are in eighth going into the final day, so there are a number of ways they can qualify for the Europa League.

This is what happens if:

  • Chelsea finish seventh – Europa League
  • Chelsea finish eighth, Aston Villa finish fifth – Europa League
  • Chelsea finish eighth, Aston Villa finish fourth – Conference League
  • Chelsea finish ninth, Aston Villa finish fifth – Conference League
  • Chelsea finish ninth, Aston Villa finish fourth OR Chelsea finish 10th – no European qualification.

Chelsea are a point behind Brighton, and need to better their result on the final day to jump into seventh.

The Blues travel to Sunderland, and the Seagulls host Man United.

However, both Sunderland and Brentford could finish above Chelsea, should the Black Cats in on the final day, and Brentford beat Liverpool.

Newcastle, Everton and Fulham could all finish level on points with Chelsea in eighth, but their goal difference is a bit too far behind Chelsea’s.
