The home side struck first blood with a massive goal in the race against the drop just after half time.
Tomas Soucek rose highest to power home a header from Jarrod Bowen’s corner.
Everton did come close to levelling the scores late on when Thierno Barry’s header was nodded onto the bar and away by Soucek.
But with just minutes remaining in east London, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall netted a seismic equaliser that silenced the home crowd.
And with time running out, Callum Wilson sent the stadium wild again after converting in the third minute of stoppage time.
West Ham remain two points clear of Tottenham with four games to play.
