The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed its commitment to the party’s National Convention, set to take place on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, despite two Federal High Court rulings that have hindered the event.

According to DAILY POST, the court in Abuja has temporarily blocked the convention, citing the party’s failure to meet legal obligations, such as publishing a timetable for members and providing a 21-day notice to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A lawsuit filed by former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, who alleged that he was denied the chance to acquire a chairmanship nomination form, also influenced the court's decision.

Nevertheless, the acting state chairman of the PDP in Enugu, Steve Oruruo, expressed that the state chapter is fully prepared to participate in the convention.

After meetings with party organs in Enugu, he assured that all logistical and organizational arrangements, including travel for delegates, have been finalized.

“I have just returned from Abuja, where I obtained all the necessary materials for the convention. We have held discussions with our delegates, distributed uniforms, and completed travel logistics. Our delegates from the South East, especially Enugu, will be transported from Akanu Ibiam International Airport,” Oruruo stated.

He underscored that the Enugu PDP remains a robust and united force despite recent defections, sending approximately 81 delegates to the convention and potentially sponsoring additional participants based on available resources.
