We’re big enough for coalition – PDP Senate Caucus to Atiku, El-Rufai, Peter Obi, others

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senate Caucus, has claimed that the party is big enough to accommodate those shopping for a platform for opposition coalition.

The Caucus made the remark in reaction to the party’s former presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is leading the drive to birth an opposition coalition.

Reports said the coalition is currently jostling for a political party to move to but there are claims that it has adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

There are indications that Atiku’s decision to form the coalition followed the infighting within the PDP leadership.

The coalition when unveiled will work towards ensuring President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid fails.

Affirming this yesterday, former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, said the coalition would retire Tinubu back to Lagos State in 2027.

However, the Senate Minority Leader and Benue South Senator, Abba Moro, said the PDP should drive the coalition.

Speaking in Abuja, Moro said: “As the biggest of all the opposition parties, the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate all persons desirous of coalition.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, therefore, should drive the coalition if and when it becomes necessary.”;;

The caucus also refuted claims that the PDP is collapsing, saying internal disagreements are not exclusive to any one party.

“The current conflicts in the PDP are not different from what other parties like the APC, Labour Party and NNPP are facing,”;; Moro said.

The senators urged party members to remain resolute, expressing confidence that the PDP would emerge stronger and more competitive.
