Yesterday, on his new show, Rooney revealed that he dressed in drag like in the music video for the 1984 hit "I Want to Break Free" and danced barefoot during a surprise three-night birthday getaway organized by his wife, Coleen.

The former footballer and icon, who turns 40 next Friday, shared: “I thought I was going to the pub with 16 friends, so we gathered at my house, but then helicopters arrived and took us to the Cotswolds.

“One night was a fancy dress theme. I dressed as Freddie Mercury, wearing high heels, a black leather skirt, and a skin-tight T-shirt. I was walking around with a vacuum cleaner, but my feet were fine.

“Coleen actually slipped in her heels and broke her foot.

“We had live bands performing, and I even got up on stage. It was a lot of fun.

“I performed 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Me and My Monkey'—that’s my go-to song.”

As a father of four, Rooney also recounted singing on stage at his wedding reception with Coleen, 39, in 2008.

He said: “Once again, this was me singing. I was performing with Westlife, and I was telling them I was pretty good, that I’m half decent.”

He also shared a humorous story about a time he found himself "squatting down" in toilets, only to discover later that he had his own luxurious Winnebago with all the amenities at the music festival.

Roo explained: “Backstage at Glastonbury, we stayed at Land Lakes.

“The bands were performing, and I was in desperate need of a toilet. The toilets at Glastonbury are the worst I’ve ever encountered.

“Anyway, I struck up a conversation with Marcus Mumford, and I went back to the artist area right next to the Pyramid Stage, only to find out that I had my own Winnebago there, which I had no idea about. I had seen one with my name on it. This was on the final day, and I had been squatting in the toilets.”

He also reminisced about a time he and his friends got on stage with a rapper at the Manchester Arena, before the rapper walked off stage while Rooney chanted the name of the group he had formed.
